Michael Squillace has been playing saxophone since he was 12 years old, receiving inspirational mentorship from Dr. Paul Caruso, a Rutgers Mason Gross graduate. He quickly picked up classical clarinet leading him to win multiple state and region orchestra 1st chair seats in New Jersey. With a background in both blues and classical music, he prides himself on precision without a loss of emotion, complemented by a dark full tone complete with impeccable articulation.
Squillace received his Master's Degree from the prestigious Master of Multiple Woodwinds Performance program at New Jersey City University, founded by Dr. Ed Joffe. He plays frequently with Jake Tavill & Indigo Soul, Taylor Tote, and the Foes of FERN, as well as does freelance performances, studio recording, composing, and arranging for numerous artists from a myriad of genres. He teaches private lessons and conducts masterclasses in both music performance and music business. Through his endeavors, Squillace has had the honor of playing at prestigious venues internationally, including Carnegie Hall, NJPAC, The Count Basie Theatre, B.B. Kings Blues Club (NYC), Club EVANS (Seoul, South Korea), The Stone Pony, The Starland Ballroom, Palacio de la Musica (Merida, Mexico), opening for Rock and Roll Hall of Famers The O'Jays, Grammy-nominated Jordin Sparks, and more. He has also been featured on both film and TV scores internationally with his compositions, arrangemants, and performances. His most fulfilling performance, however, is always at the annual benefit concert, Jammin for Jaclyn, that he runs to support cancer fighters; originally founded for his sister.
